Christopher Walters, 41, was arrested last year after making statements to co-conspirators in the drug case that he was getting paid $30,000 a load to smuggle drugs across the border for the Hells Angels.
Police found about $2 million worth of ectasy in a storage locker when he kept a 19-foot boat that the U.S. Coast Guard had observed in Bellingham Bay under suspicious circumstances last summer.
U.S. District Judge James L. Robart heard that Walters had picked up load in an isolated cove in the San Juan Islands where it had been delivered by the HA.
“We need to have sentences that put people on notice in the U.S. and Canada that this conduct will not be tolerated," Robart said at Monday's sentencing hearing.A Washington state man was sentenced to 14 years in jail for his role in a drug-smuggling operation linked to the powerful B.C. biker gang.
